2nd Amendment Rights

Summary

In a story on MSNBC , it talks about gun rights activists and supporters rallying at Obama's town hall meetings, wearing firearms and sidearms in plain veiw. It told of a conveinence store robbery, to where an armed citizen twarted the robbery and saved the life of the clerk and other customers. The supporters of our right to carry, complained that the media only portrayed the carring of guns in a negative way, and witheld instances such as the conveinence store robbery attempt. The activist worry that if they stand up for citizen's right to carry, that those freedoms will begin to diminish under the Obama led Democrat administration.

It is my opinion that if the criminals are going to carry guns, then we should be able to carry them to protect ourselves. I don't personally own a gun, but I am a brown belt in Jeet Kune Do. But if I wasn't, then I probably would have one. There is nothing worse than a feeling of helplessness in a crisis situation. I am a firm supporter of the constitution in the context of which it was written, and I think that it is fine as it is, and the more it is altered and amended, the worse off this country becomes. In a world that is filled with turmoil and uncertainty, with soaring unemployment as well as soaring grocery and utility prices; I feel that people are worried what lengths people will goto to survive, and want to be prepared for the worst. Alot of people might be uncomfortable with the idea of a high percentage of the population walking around with guns strapped to their hips. I personally feel that if a criminal walks into a bank to rob it, and he sees a half dozen people wearing guns, he's probably going to seriously reconsider his plans to rob it.
